BagID is integrated with all partner airlines, and checking in baggage works as BagID connects to the airlines systems and fetches information on both the flight and baggage tags.
BagID also fetches information for example on flight times, delays, gates and baggage arrival carousels, and send alerts during your journey so that you stay updated on the most up to date changes.
As a tracking device, bagID GO can be used with all airlines, en route or outside of airports, worldwide.
As a baggage tag bagID GO can be used with Norwegian airlines and Widerøe airlines today, and with additional partners to be announces during the course of 2021.
Your baggage information transfers from the BagID App to bagID GO via Bluetooth.
When you check in your baggage via the app, you’ll receive a message that the information is ready to be transferred. Follow the instructions for connection within the app and the information will be transferred to your bagID GO.
One of our customers happily said:
"It takes a maximum of one minute to transfer the tag to the display"
Which airlines support bagID GO?
Functions such as tracking, alerts and sensor data, do not require interaction from all of the unique airlines, and can be used on all types of journeys. You can receive information on where your baggage is located, or how it has been handled, without any coordination from the airlines.
When it comes to checking in baggage with airlines, it is primarily Norwegian airlines and Widerøe who offer these solutions today. It is expected that more airlines from Scandinavia, Europe, USA and Asia will also support the use of bagID GO.
In coordination with Telenor Norway, we have made it possible to track your baggage the world over, with GPS and mobile communication.
In the smartphone App you can follow the tracking and see the baggage’s position on a map. Tracking can also be activated and used outside of airport travel.
bagID GO has a charged battery which can handle hundreds of screen updates. If bagID GO were to lose power during travel, the screen maintains full readability.
bagID GO is charged with a USB-C cable.
bagID GO has different modes which it switches to before, during and after travel.
- Four hours before travel commences, bagID GO switches to travel mode. It then communicates every 10 minutes, and in this mode the battery can last for around a week.
- When you have checked in your baggage, but there are over four hours until your journey commences, bagID GO switches to power saving mode. It then communicates every hour, and in power saving mode the battery can last for around a month.
- When you have arrived at your destination and bagID GO is not in use, it switches to sleep mode. In sleep mode the battery can last from months to a year.
bagID GO has been designed in close collaboration with airlines and airports, and is designed to handle shock, rain and rough baggage handling.
The cover features rough edges for extra resistance against impact on the sides. The screen is made of a flexible material so that it is bendable and should not break, and the display is covered with a special designed protective glass. It is extremely resistant to scratches.
bagID GO has been tested by Avinor at Gardemoen airport (OSLO International airport) for verification that it can withstand rough baggage handling conditions.
Crash testing of the bagID GO has also been performed. The bagID GO was attached to the underside of a 27kg suitcase and dropped from a 1 meter height. The only registered damage from the testing was a scratch on the mounting plate. The screen was undamaged and remained fully readable.
bagID GO is based on the newest mobile communication technology, for the World’s smallest multi- module LPWA (LowPower Wide Area-module).
bagID GO er basert på de nyeste mobilkommunikasjons-teknologiene, på verdens minste multi-modus LPWA (Low Power Wide Area-modul).
This module, in combination with BagID’s specially designed sensor, detects when bagID GO is in the air, so that two way communication is possible with your baggage.
One major advantage of this, is the ability to track your bags, and that the airline can remotely control the unit in the instance of rebooking, cancellations and the easy location of luggage should a passenger not turn up as planned.
bagID GO uses the newest screen technology combination with Plastic Logic. This is a specially designed screen in plastic, based on EPD technology (Electronic Paper Display), which displays multiple colours, handles rough conditions and large variations in temperatures.
EPD screens don’t use power, therefore the transferred baggage information will remain readable should your bagID Go’s battery die mid journey.
The device has been tested hundreds of times at Gardemoen (Oslo International Airport) by Avinor, in order to verify that bagID GO can withstand the tough load which can often occur at airports.
bagID GO attaches to your luggage with its own mounting plate. The mounting plate can be used on both hard suitcases and soft baggage.
Four pins stick through the mounting plate and baggage, and secure with magnetic functionality on the inside of the luggage. (The same functionality which is used for clothing theft alarms in clothing boutiques). It fastened securely and well, and a special magnet remover is used to remove the plate.
It takes a few seconds to click the bagID GO into the mounting plate on your luggage.
To loosen the bagID GO, the baggage needs to be opened. This significantly reduces the chance of theft.
If you plan on using bagID GO on multiple items of luggage, you will need multiple mounting plates. Add additional mounting plates if you desire to share the unit within your family.
The mounting plate is difficult to remove from baggage, so take care in attaching it to the luggage which you intend on using most for travel.
Via the BagID app, you’ll receive smart alerts which help you to keep updated before you even commence your journey.

- Useful information about flight times, delays, gate numbers etc.

*For airports with only one baggage arrivals carousel, you will not receive a notification for which baggage arrivals carousel your luggage will arrive on.

When you’ve added your travel itinerary into the BagID app and have transferred baggage information to your bagID GO, your luggage is ready to be checked in. You can then take your baggage straight to Bag Drop.
The baggage drop process can vary between airlines. Follow the instructions from your airline’s baggage and check in areas.
